Nihad Sami BanarlıGeniş ününü mizah ve siyasal yergi yazılarıyla sağlayan Refik Halidin mizah yazıları gibi hikayeleri de edebiyatımızın bu alanında bir aşama olmuştur. O zamana kadar İstanbul sınırları dışına çıkamayan Türk hikayesini Anadoluya yöneltmekle hikayeciliğimize yeni bir ufuk açmış, yeni bir soluk getirmiştir. Cevdet Kudret, Türk Edebiyatında Hikaye ve RomanRefik Halidin anlattığı olaylar bütünüyle yaşadığı dönemin olaylarıdır. Memleket Hikayeleri ile Gurbet Hikayelerinde canlandırılan kişilerin çoğu adeta canlıdır.
