- The Danelectro Dan O. Cool electric guitar is the foundational 6-string model in the refreshed DANO lineup, pairing classic Danelectro snap and chime with hotter 1950s-spec Lipstick pickups for increased output and stronger pedal interaction. It retains the bright, open character players expect from lipstick pickups, but adds more push at the neck and bridge so the guitar responds more confidently to fuzz, overdrive, compression, modulation and pedal-heavy alternative rigs. Built with a hardboard top and back, solid spruce body frame, bolt-on hard maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, the Dan O. Cool preserves Danelectro’s lightweight feel while giving indie, garage and alternative players a more assertive version of the brand’s familiar voice. A C-shaped neck profile, 14 fingerboard radius, 21 medium jumbo frets and 25 scale length complete the straightforward playing platform. Hotter Lipstick Pickups With Expanded Output The Dan O. Cool uses upgraded 1950s-spec Lipstick pickups with increased output, including a neck pickup that is 20% hotter and a bridge pickup that is 30% hotter than traditional Danelectro designs. The result is still unmistakably DANO, with glassy highs, quick attack and bright, snappy response, but the additional output gives the guitar more authority into pedals, fuzz circuits and smaller amps. Its sharper, more forceful character is particularly well suited for garage rock, indie rhythm work, jangly leads and effects-driven textures. Lightweight Construction With Vintage DANO Identity A hardboard top and back with a solid spruce body frame give the Dan O. Cool the lightweight resonance associated with classic Danelectro-style construction. The 1954-style full bell headstock, 1954-style rosewood saddle bridge and 1958-style skate key tuners preserve the visual identity tied to the brand’s mid-century roots while helping the instrument stand apart from more conventional solidbody designs. For players who prefer a more adjustable modern setup, Danelectro also includes a steel adjustable saddle bridge that can be swapped in place of the preinstalled rosewood bridge. Combined with the lineup’s 1940s- and 1950s-inspired finishes, the Dan O. Cool feels rooted in vintage DANO aesthetics without positioning itself as a strict reissue model.
