Kelis Format: Audio CD Contemporary Blues Editorial Review
**Editorial Review of Kelis' Album "Tasty"** Kelis' "Tasty" marks a notable evolution in her musical style, brilliantly showcasing her versatility and ability to blend genres. With production once again helmed by The Neptunes, the album traverses a rich landscape of sounds, infusing elements of funk, hip-hop, and electronica. Drawing from legendary influences like Sly Stone, P-Funk, and Prince, Kelis presents a cohesive yet eclectic collection of tracks that feels both fresh and nostalgic. The standout track "Trick Me" sets a lively tone, capturing attention with its infectious energy, while "Milkshake" remains an undeniable pop culture anthem. The album's strength lies in its ability to offer not only catchy songs but also meaningful lyrical content. Tracks such as "Glow," featuring Raphael Saadiq's influence, highlight Kelis’ growth as an artist and her desire to push musical boundaries. The variety within the album is commendable; from the driving bass lines to the smooth, flowing melodies, each song invites listeners to engage with its vibrant spirit. However, while the majority of the album shines, a few songs—particularly towards the end—received mixed feedback, with some listeners feeling they might detract from the overall experience. Still, Kelis manages to create a project that, through its inventive sound and captivating lyrics, resonates with a broad audience. It’s a record that not only showcases her artistic vision but also reconnects with the roots of funk and soul, making it a true highlight in her discography. In conclusion, "Tasty" is celebrated for its catchy hooks, diverse sound, and engaging themes, ensuring it remains a cherished addition to the catalogs of both new listeners and long-time fans alike. **
