What is the main function of the BRODY Automatic Float Switch?

The BRODY Automatic Float Switch is designed to monitor and control the water levels in a tank or sump. It automatically activates or deactivates the sump pump based on the water level, ensuring that your tank does not overflow or run dry. This automatic function is essential for maintaining optimal water levels in ponds, aquariums, basements, and other water storage systems.

How does the float switch work?

The float switch operates based on a buoyant floating mechanism that rises or falls with the water level. When the water reaches a certain level, the float activates a switch to turn the pump on or off. This reliable, mechanical process ensures that your water systems are managed efficiently, preventing overflow and protecting your property from water damage.

What type of sump pumps are compatible with this float switch?

The BRODY Automatic Float Switch is compatible with most standard sump pumps, particularly those that operate on a 10-15 amp electrical current. It's ideal for residential use in basements or crawl spaces and can also be used with fountain pumps, rainwater harvesting systems, and other water management applications. Ensure to check your pump specifications for compatibility.

Can the float switch be used in saltwater or freshwater applications?

Yes, the BRODY Automatic Float Switch can be used in both saltwater and freshwater environments. Its materials are designed to resist corrosion and damage from saline conditions, making it suitable for aquariums, marine applications, and natural water features. Installing the BRODY Automatic Float Switch is straightforward. You simply mount the float switch at the desired water level in your tank and connect it to your sump pump following the provided wiring instructions. Whether you're using it for a new installation or retrofitting an existing system, detailed guidelines ensure a hassle-free setup for beginners and experienced users alike.

Is the float switch waterproof?

The BRODY Automatic Float Switch is designed to be waterproof and suitable for submersion within water tanks. Its robust construction protects against the adverse effects of moisture, allowing it to function reliably underwater. This durability is crucial for ensuring long-term performance in various water environments, whether in residential or agricultural setups.

What length is the cable for the float switch?

The BRODY Automatic Float Switch comes with a 10-foot cable. This length gives you flexibility during installation, allowing you to position the switch at various depths while maintaining a connection to your pump and power supply. Its ample length is advantageous for larger tanks or installations in complex water management systems.

Does the float switch come with a warranty?

Yes, the BRODY Automatic Float Switch typically comes with a manufacturer's warranty that protects against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty period may vary, so be sure to check specific details upon purchase. This offer provides peace of mind and assurance of quality, making it a reliable choice for water management needs.

BRODY Pump Accessories Editorial Review

The Float Switch is a reliable and simple solution for controlling water levels in tanks and works well for various applications. The switch needs to be measured in degrees rather than rise, but it will shut off the pump when the desired water level has been reached. The switch can work on 12v dc and is compatible with the Dankoff Slow pump model 1308. It is safe for use in drinking water and comes with well-written installation instructions. However, wiring for 220v is not included, and it may not fit into a 4-inch PVC pipe but should work fine in larger tanks.
