The Samurai 13" Pruning Saw with pistol handle and red scabbard is an excellent saw, made in Japan with a sharp blade that accurately cuts through large branches with minimal effort. The length of the blade is 13 1/4 inches, while the handle is 7 1/4 inches long. Although the saw blade is designed to work with the handle, the customer service response indicates that it might be possible to remove the handle and rig the blade to a pole. The teeth per inch is 6.3 for this saw, and the pitch is 4.0mm. The section just above the blade next to the handle is pretty snug, and they have suggested a lanyard to tie the handle through the sheath belt loop for more security. Also, a combo pole saw/snip tool can be used to trim taller bushes and smaller trees. Many buyers have reviewed the item as an excellent saw that is amazingly sharp, perfect for camping, hikes, and around land use. It cuts efficiently and lasts long, making pruning large branches effortless. Some reviewers compared the Samurai saw to the Silky saw, a much more expensive handsaw that has the strongest handle, and it was deemed comparably sharp and strong, and excellent value for its price. However, there were some complaints about the Samurai saw, with some people mentioning the sheaths and buckles to be of low quality. The scabbard eventually wears out from use (3-6 months), causing the saw to fall out, and the quick-release buckle that comes with the sheath also falls apart.
