- This book goes through an 11 point match from the 2025 Los Angeles Open undefeated round of 8 between Michihito “Michy” Kageyama and Masayuki “Mochy” Mochizuki, two Japanese Grandmasters and top rated players for many years. Similar to Backgammon Online Match: USBGF vs Litzenberger, the idea is to go through the entire match and include educational content geared towards players of all levels. Instead of a textbook style, the learning is through reading about a match that was played. With each move, different strategies become important. You will learn how to analyze positions by identifying patterns, but also how to use tools in eXtreme Gammon (XG), the strongest backgammon software, to improve. It is assumed that the reader has some background in backgammon, understanding the rules and notations for moves.“The Los Angeles Open is one of my favorite tournaments. At such a fantastic tournament, I had the chance to face the world’s number one player, Mochy. Playing against him is always a big joy. I hope all readers enjoy the book.”Michihito KageyamaBackgammon Grandmaster, Nine Time Backgammon Giant, author, teacher, and ambassador“Michy Kageyama has been a close rival of mine for many decades. We have played dozens, even hundreds of matches against each other, sharing both victories and defeats. I sincerely hope that our match will be of value and inspiration to readers.”Masayuki MochizukiTwo-time World Champion, Backgammon Super Grandmaster, Six Time Number 1 Backgammon Giant, and USBGF Hall-of-Famer
